What you create for you, no one can take from you.

Am I good enough?
Am I pretty enough?
Smart enough?
Strong enough?

Anxiety can make us question our growth, our worth, our strength… our overall value as human beings. Sometimes it takes all that we have to push away those negative thoughts and focus on the little things that bring us happiness.
Over the past couple of days, I’ve been listening to Jhené Aiko’s albums and there’s this song called W.A.Y.S. that truly helps me feel more centered whenever I’m feeling down. In a recent video I posted on YouTube, I spoke about how the pressure that social media puts on us to be productive can be detrimental to our mental health.
Sometimes anxiety makes me want to crawl in a hole and cry but no, I can’t allow that to happen. It’s ok not to be ok but it’s important to remember that things eventually get better. You’re not alone.
I know it sounds like a cliché and, I’ll admit, I occasionally scoff at the sound of those three words but it really is true.
Sometimes it helps put things in perspective when we are reminded that thousands or even millions of other strangers around the world know exactly how you feel. There’s a comfort we can all find in that.

Having low self-esteem is something that we have all struggled with at some point in our lives and it’s totally ok to admit it. The media can make us feel like we have to conform to some kind of image whether it has to do with our bodies, goals or mental health.
It’s totally exhausting looking at what other people have or how they are and envying them and the life they live. But do you know what I think?
I think that it’s absolutely unnecessary and toxic to allow ourselves to succumb to such wasteful thinking. We unknowingly let life pass us by without acknowledging the wonderful opportunities presented before us.
I know because I’ve been there.
There’s a quote I read on my Facebook timeline a couple of weeks ago that said “You can struggle with mental health and still be a strong woman”. This applies to men as well, of course.
We can find strength in our weaknesses and our flaws. We become wiser with every experience life throws at us and it is up to us whether or not we allow a negative mindset to throw us off balance.
Your anxiety is lying to you
You are good enough.
You are pretty enough.
You are smart enough.
And you most definitely are strong enough.
With love,
Xx j.
