Before I jump right into the topic I’m going to discuss today, allow me to introduce myself!
My name is Jewel. I’m an (almost) senior in college & I’m a communications mayor. My studies focus more on producing and directing productions while also producing digital media content.
I’m 100% certain I said that title completely wrong, but you get the gist. I’m a minimalist at heart and I die for anything aesthetically pleasing (those that know me well know that I’ll be anything as long as it’s in cute packaging).
So, let’s jump right in, shall we?
I believe that in this challenging time that we’re all facing at home in quarantine, it’s important to add a bit of sweetness to our lives, even if it’s just a drop. Having said that, it’s the main inspiration for me creating this blog.

I’m still sort of a novice at blogging and putting my thoughts out there for the whole world to see, but I truly believe that there is a sense of vulnerability to expressing ourselves in such a way.
This blog has the purpose to distract ourselves (myself included) with various topics such as fashion, beauty trends, music, wholesome content and advice. This column is a space in the internet where you, and I, will be able to feel free to feel whatever we please.
Look at me, I’m getting all poetic lol. Anyway, this is a project that, I’m not gonna lie, literally came to me yesterday while I was watching TV.
I was thinking to myself, “college has me so stressed that, although I’m fortunate enough to study what I love, I can’t help but feel this overwhelming sensation of anxiety and dread whenever I have to do homeworks”. I decided from that moment forward to take advantage of this free time I have in quarantine for a bit of personal growth.
Having said that, I want to make something absolutely clear: I am in no way saying that during this stressful time you MUST take on projects, exercise, meditate, grow emotionally or do a whole bunch of things. You are allowed to not want to do a damn thing. Social media can be a bitch, pardon my french, and can manipulate you into thinking that you’ll be left behind if you aren’t as active as other people are during this pandemic. You are okay. It’s important for you to know that.
With change comes the chance to fall in love with yourself all over again.

As you can already tell, this blog post is centered mostly on what can we do for ourselves to help us get by. I’ve been struggling with this for the past weeks, pondering constantly about what can I do to stop feeling so sluggish & desperate for air all the time.
If y’all don’t mind, I’m gonna list out some things that may seem totally basic, but I’m sure that we can all take something from it. As I mentioned before, it’s totally ok if you just wanna ignore it altogether and find your own way to cope with everything that’s going on.
I know it’s hard and I hope things get better soon.
1.) Read a book that entices you & teaches you in the process. Poetry is great for this sort of thing, if you’re like me.
2.) Walk outside barefoot for a bit. I’ve heard that the electricity your body stores inside itself from us constantly using electronic devices can be liberated by touching your feet to grass. Free your body from that energy.
3.) Do simple makeup. This’ll help you wake up a bit more and force yourself to not go to back to sleep again.
4.) Clean your room and reorganize it. Clear space, clear mind.
5.) Bake something you’ve never done before. This’ll help you hone in some skills you never thought you had before (and enjoy some sweets in the process).
6.) Journal a bit. Write down every emotion you feel and why you feel it. One day you’ll be able to read those pages and realize how much you’ve grown.
7.) Try to practice those hobbies you used to be so passionate about. Sometimes, life distracts us and convinces us that all we can do to survive is work, work and work. Work is important, but don’t let your dreams die. Enjoy the little things.

8.) Facetime with your friends & loved ones. Sometimes being able to share with those you care about can give us more hope that things will get better. Even if we can only speak with them virtually.
9.) Have your very own spa day. Regardless if you’re a man or a woman, self-care is essential. Apply a face mask, moisturize, shave, drown yourself in perfume/cologne. I know that I love a good self-care day & it most definitely helps lift up my spirits.
10.) Catch up on your favorite youtubers and TV shows. I’ve personally been hooked with Bates Motel and IG makeup tutorials.
11.) Update your social media accounts, post some bomb-ass selfies, your art, musical covers, whatever you want to share with others. Give people the opportunity to admire the god/goddess you are!
Although there are many other things you can do to entertain yourself during quarantine, nothing is more important than doing what makes you happy and transforms you into a better version of yourself.
I hope that in some way or another, this helps. If you guys have any requests for any certain topic, feel free to comment your ideas!
Until next time! ♡
